Marine-EO: All eyes on Horizon 2020’s first Earth Observation Pre-Commercial Procurement

The 1st Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) for Earth Observation services officially started on January 1st, 2017. Comprising of 9 partners from Greece, Portugal, Spain and Norway, the Consortium within a time span of 47 months will set the processes for publishing a call for tender that will invite the EO industry to develop robust innovative solutions beyond the current state-of-the art in the fields of both (i) maritime environment monitoring and (ii) security.

Kick-off Meeting in Athens

Marine-EO official kick-off meeting took place on January 12th, 2017 at the NCSR Demokritos premises in Athens. Representatives from all the 9 partners of the Consortium participated in the discussions about the project, the tasks and the plan for a successful Pre-Commercial Procurement endeavor for Earth Observation services.

  • EARSC and AGI sign MoU

    Hyderabad, 16th January 2018: The European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC) and the Association of Geospatial Industries (AGI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 16th of January 2018, on the sidelines of the Geospatial World Forum in Hyderabad.

  • Earth-i launches prototype of world’s first full-colour, full-motion video satellite constellation

    The new commercial constellation – which the company announced is called Vivid-i – will be the first of its kind to provide full-colour video; and the first European-owned constellation able to provide both video and still images. The multiple satellites within the Vivid-i Constellation will significantly increase the ability of companies and institutions to monitor, track and analyse activities, patterns of life and changes at any location on earth.

    EARSC – the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies – is a non-profit trade association working on behalf of the geospatial information services industry in Europe; in particular the EO services sector which comprises companies generating information using satellite imagery. Established 27 years ago, today, EARSC has 100 members from throughout Europe.
